He was predeceased by: his parents, David Monroe Avery and Frances Ola V. Avery; his former wife Alice Faye Avery; his stepmother Annie Mae Avery; his daughter Melanie Starr Avery; his stepson Ruston Cooper; and his siblings, Ola Mae Dover, Jean Barnett and John "Buddy" Avery.
He is survived by: his wife Jackie Hoffman Avery of Daphne; his children, Billy Wane Avery (Betty Ann) of Milner, Pam Murrill (Mark) of Mobile, AL and Brian Avery of Milton, FL; his stepson Allen Cooper of Griffin; his sister Briness Kennedy of Jackson; his siblings-in-law, Linda Sparrow and Carl "Junior" Dover; and his niece Barbara Miller of Boise, Idaho.. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
