He is survived by: his children, Cindy Childress (Rory), Jeff Helms, Forrest Helms (Cindy) and Troy Helms (Melissa); his sister Louise Calloway; his grandchildren, Josh Childress (Katie), Rachael Mason (Jay), Whitney Helms, Shayne Helms and Judah Helms (Samantha); and his great grandchildren, Evie, Judson Childress, Alden Barentine (Brynlee), Alexis Mason, Destini Mason, Dalton Mason, Jakob Helms, Hannah Helms, Emma and Allie Helms.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Gassett Funeral Home (204 E Charles Ave, Wetumpka, AL 36092). A funeral service was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Gassett Funeral Home Chapel (204 E Charles Ave, Wetumpka, AL 36092).
