He was predeceased by: his parents, William R. Melson and Mary Ivah Reid Melson; his son Phillip Melson; and his siblings, Calvin Melson, Gilbert Melson, Nadine Yeager, Olene Owens of Dee Melson, R. V and Betty Nance.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Ann Smith Melson; his daughter Phyllis Melson Bradford (Brad); his grandchildren, Caleb Bradford (Christina), Jessica Wood (Tyler) and William Melson; and his great grandchildren, Ivey Anne Bradford, Foster Bradford, Jackson Wood and John Micah Wood.
