With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Delmar Wayne Smith of Decatur, Alabama, born in Kansas City, Missouri, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 7, 2026 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Wayne and Marguerite Smith; and his wife Mary Anne Bazzell Smith. He is survived by: his children, Mike Smith of Decatur, Maureen Cox (Richard) of Birmingham, Monica Cole (Timmy) of Hartselle, Mary Jett (Bob) of Decatur, Stella Kelly (Chris) of Athens, Vince Smith (Kyndra) of Priceville, Bernadette Brennaman (Eric) of Decatur, Cathy Rizzardi (Ron) of Huntsville and Marty Smith (Dana) of Trinity; and his siblings, Vicki Matthews (Rick) of Pensacola, FL, Kristina Stillsmoking (Jay) of Rock Springs, WY, Rebecca McMinstry of Boise, ID, Jeff Chapman of Madras, OR and Bill Chapman (Carlene) of Irvins, UT. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley or Save-A-Life Pregnancy Center.
