He was predeceased by: his parents, John Brandon and Mallie Brandon; and his sister Prudence Ursich (Betty Vaughan). He is survived by: his children, Mary Brandon Brown (Brian), Sara Brandon Watkins (Alan) and Greg Hendricks (David Kirkpatrick); his grandchildren, Preston Brown (L. B.), Sam Watkins, Mallie Watkins and Baylor Brown; his great grandchildren, J. P. Brown and Carter Brown; and his significant other Dr. Betty Vaughan.
