Lawrence Nelms Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence Nelms of Decatur, Alabama, who passed away on June 10, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, L. D. Nelms and Alice Cornelia Briggs Nelms; his former wife Mary Lee Arant Nelms; his son Roger Steven Nelms; and his brother Kenneth Brown Nelms.
He is survived by: his wife Diana Parker Nelms; his son Kevin Dean Nelms (Stacey); his stepchildren, Jill Key Hardesty and Sean Key; his grandchildren, Clayton Dean Nelms, Kayley Key, Kade Key, Lilly Key and John Ross Key; his great grandchild Berkley Dean Nelms; and his sister Linda Nelms Ware (Don). He is also survived by one niece, and three nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Shelton Funeral Home (2105 Beltline Rd SW, Decatur, AL 35601). A graveside service was held on Sunday, June 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Obion County Memorial Gardens (3939 Ken Tenn Hwy, Union City, TN 38261).
