It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Matthew Eliason Mahan of Decatur, Alabama, who passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 46, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Matthew may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Matthew touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He is survived by: his parents, Bob Mahan and Mary Kay Mahan; his sister Ellie; his brother-in-law Greg Griffis; his nephews, Drew and Will Griffis; and his niece Molly Griffis.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp ASCCA where Matt looked forward to spending a week of the summer for over 20 years.
