He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. Matkin and Theo Moore Matkin; his wife Bettye Thomas Matkin; his daughter Marcia Reidberger; and his grandson Paul Sparks.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tricia Stevens (Jack) and Michelle Matkin; his grandchildren, Chance Sparks (Rebecca), Devin Anton (Adam), Kody Bryant (Matt), Cara Ryan, Panthea Steelman, Jessica Chandler (Chris), Jacquelyn Stevens and Samantha Stevens; and his great grandchildren, Walker Anton, Rylee Bryant, Cy Anton, Colton Bryant, Carlianne Sparks, Lucille Anton, Wyatt Chandler and Elissa Grace Chandler.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Peck Funeral Home (1600 Hwy 31 SW, Hartselle, AL 35640). The lying in state will be held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Valhermoso Springs Baptist Church (7312 AL-36, Laceys Spring, AL 35754). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at the Valhermoso Springs Cemetery.
