Visitation was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Larkin & Scott Funeral Home (510 E Jefferson St, Demopolis, AL 36732). A prayer was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the St Leo the Great Catholic Church (307 S Main Ave, Demopolis, AL 36732). A funeral service was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church (307 S Main Ave, Demopolis, AL 36732).

“Gus and I were members of St. Leo’s Catholic Church. We were both musicians — he at Jones HS, and I at Demopolis HS. Because of segregation, I would occasionally go to a Jones HS football game and listen to the US Jones HS band outside the chain link fence. I always hoped to hear the band play “Amen.” Their band director would often play a trumpet solo! I have found memories of Gus and everything said about his character is absolutely true! And an excellent drummer! Bobby Johnson”

“This is Allen Coley in Toledo, OH. I want to express my sincere condolences to the Weiss family on the loss of your and our loved one, Gus Weiss. Gus was my classmate of US Jones School, class of 1964. We lived in the same community, maybe 5 or 6 houses apart, very close to New Morning Star Baptist Church. We both played drums together in Jones High school marching band. I join you in sorrow, as we must continue the struggle knowing that we have the love and compassion of a sympathetic Savior.”
