He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlos Roy Shipes and Lottie C. Brown Shipes; and his siblings, Adie Bell Shipes, Nina Parris, Thomas Shipes, Ben Shipes and Patrick Shipes.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Brannon Shipes; his children, Becky Shipes, Lisa Pratt (Michael), Anthony Carl "Tony" Shipes (Elizabeth) of Dothan and Carlos Randall "Randy" Shipes (Carla) of Dothan; his sister Virgie Joyner (Gerald); his brother-in-law Bill Parris; his grandchildren, Todd Shipes, Tucker Shipes (Devan), Christie Hudson (Johnny), Dustyn Monday, Amber Carlisle (Austin), Summer Pratt (Scott) and Garrison Pratt; and his great grandchildren, Savannah Pratt, William Hudson, Tyler Hudson, Abbigail Monday, Laklyn Monday, Elison Shipes and Harlow Jane Shipes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, 3257 E. Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL 36301.
