He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer A. Smith and Lena Spivey Smith; his siblings, Howard, Johnny Frank, Homer J., James, Betty Griffin, Rose Black and Dottie Williams; and his great grandchild Maverick Laramore.

He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Johnson Smith; his children, Renee Woodham (Paul) and Russell Smith (Shelley); his grandchildren, Meghan Woodham, Morgan Laramore (Dewayne) and Cash Smith; his great grandchildren, Mason and Milo Laramore; his siblings, Max Smith (Sandra) and Joyce Helen Grimmer; and his sister-in-law Lenore Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
