He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Chavis and Carlie Jones Chavis; his son Stephen Chavis; and his grandson Blake Carnes. He is survived by: his wife Judy Chavis; his children, Cindy Chavis of Dothan, Jerry Chavis (Paige) of Dothan and Kim Stanley (Anthony) of Dothan; his sister Geraldine Hallman (Earl); his sister-in-law Linda Chavis; and his grandchildren, Charlie Carnes (Jerilynn), Hunter Carnes, Brett Chavis, Paige Turner (Elijah), Dalton Chavis (Brianna), Carlee Brackin (Garrett), Kaylee Boren (Junior), Summer McLean (JD), Josh Stanley (Brook), Brianna Chavis (Laurel), Brooke Chavis, Brantlee Chavis, Courtney Smith (Curtis), Caitlin Brannon (Matthew) and Colton Cherry. He is also survived by his twelve great-granddaughters, seven great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home (2414 Hartford Hwy, Dothan, AL 36305). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
