He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Mathis and Ella Estelle Mathis; and his siblings, Thad Mathis, Ralph Mathis, Dalton Mathis, Rosby Mathis, Nina Sasser, Lila Ben Griffin, Murrelle Smith, Reba Martin, Laurie Barton and Kathryn Mayo.
He is survived by: his wife Lee Mathis; his children, Lance Mathis of Dothan and Winnie Ward (Richmond) of Barksdale, AFB; his granddaughters, Winnie Lee, Harper Kate Ward and Ella Ann Dean; and his sister Joyce Sewell (Joe).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Bay Springs Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
