He was predeceased by : his parents, Nicholas John and Anna Maria Metz; his brothers, John Metz and Tom Metz; and his wife Dorothy.
He is survived by : his children, Joseph C. Metz, Jr. (Michell), Martin Metz (Hee Sook), Dottie O'Brien, Gail Smith (Nick) and Carrie Metz; and his nieces and nephews, James Metz, Scott Willet and Stacey Farrington. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the St. John's Catholic Church (475 Camilla Ave, Ozark, AL 36360).
His sense of duty was unwavering, and his contributions to the safety of the community were immeasurable.
