He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Brackin and Ada Brackin; and his siblings, Albert Brackin Jr., Audrey Brackin and Olbia Mixon.

He is survived by: his wife Gloria Franklin Brackin; his children, Andrea Herring (Ricky), Shon Brackin (Kelly) and Allison Harvey (Johnny); his grandchildren, Brady Herring (Marilaine), Payton Herring, Gabe Brackin, Kinley Herring, Katie Jo Brackin, Mylee, Brooklyn, Naomi and Skylar Harvey; and his siblings, Athol Brackin (Gloria) and Melba Bradford. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
