He was predeceased by: his former wife Betty Cosby Fears; his parents, Irene Fears Sconyers and Nicholas Green Fears; and his siblings, Dooley Fears, Mary Lois Roberts, Earlston Fears and Edward Fears.
He is survived by: his wife Melba Fears; his children, Nicholas Scott Fears, Lisa Hollingsworth (Randall), Paula Richardson (Tim) and Amy Clark; and his stepsons, Paul Kirkland (Tammy) of Tallahassee, FL and Richard Kirkland (Dawn) of Panama City, FL.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Southside Baptist Church (423 E Cottonwood Rd, Dothan, AL 36301). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
