He is survived by: his wife Barbara Flick Mearns; his children, Richard "Rick" Mearns Jr. (Karen), Lynda Mearns Dillender, Debra Mearns and Janet Angelovich (Jeff); his grandchildren, Ryan Mearns, Thomas Lowry, Michele Pye, Matthew Lowry, Kenneth Lowry, Heidi Mearns, Jennifer Smith and Kelly Jackson; and his sister Chris. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home and Crematory (1700 Barrington Rd, Midland City, AL 36350). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the St Columba Catholic Church (2700 W Main St, Dothan, AL 36301).
