She was predeceased by: her husband Shelly Dowling "Red" Thomas, Jr.; her parents, Rosa Ruth Smith Anders and James Franklin Anders; her brother Charles Leonard Anders (Mary Oswalt Anders); her aunt Annie May Woodside of Southport, NC; her great-nephews, Marvin Stroud, Charles Herrman, Shane Dagostin and Josh Dagostin; and her great-niece Laura Thomas.
She is survived by: her son John Thomas (Dianne); her sibling's children, Anne Stroud, Dana Norton (Tom), James Franklin Andres II (Lorie-Duggar), Jane Ruffin, Lee Thomas (Mikell), Libba Owen (John), Jean Dagostin (Mike), Karen Etheredge (Steve), Charles Thomas (Becky), Patricia Thomas, Barbara Hendrix, Cindy Burn (Michael), Mark Thomas (Sylvia) and Richard Thomas (Rita); her stepgrandson Michael Smith; her goddaughter Elizabeth McGregor (Brian); her cousin Madelyn Hoyt; and her friend Thelmanne McGaughey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Dothan (300 W Main St, Dothan, AL 36301). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in the memory of Rosa to First Baptist Church of Dothan.
