He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas Stokes and Jewel Clarice Pritchett Stokes; and his brother Billy Stokes. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Messer Stokes; his children, Michele Herring Wagner (Jason), Marcie Herring Kelly (Warren) and James Stokes of Atlanta, GA; his grandchildren, Mitch Lucky (Kaci), Saje Cox, Cody Cox (Kaitlin), Sara Beth Wagner, Morgan Kelly and Coe Kelly; his great grandchildren, Mackenzie Lucky, Mary Kate Lucky, Matlee Beth Lucky and Carter Cox; his sister-in-law Susan Anderson (Brett); his nephew Cevin Medley (Bobbilynn); his great-niece Kaitlyn Medley; and his great-nephew Caleb Medley.
