In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Willie had on those he encountered along his journey. Though Willie may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
He was predeceased by: his mother Jennie Lou Holmes; and his brother Ernest Holmes. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Johnson (Willie), Mary McCoy (Nick), Cassandra Thomas (Chris), Willie Ross Holmes, Jr. and Bruce Holmes; and his siblings, Mary Person (Charles) and Charles Holmes. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary (814 Headland Ave, Dothan, AL 36303). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. John AME Church - Eufaula (901 Dale Rd, Eufaula, AL 36027).
