He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Grimes and Ruth Worley Grimes; his wife Ellen Joyce Hammett Grimes; and his brother Bernard W. Grimes. He is survived by: his sister Jo Marshall; his children, Tim Grimes (Mary) of Rose Hill and Kim Rabren (Doug) of Rose Hill; his grandchildren, Dale Grimes (Leah), Kayla Lucas (Kyle), Katie Elmore (Clay), Brooks Rabren and Emmy Ellyn Rabren (Hal Smithart); and his great grandchildren, Laura Leigh Grimes, Charlie Grimes, Maggie Grimes, Cooper Lucas, Owen Lucas, Rhett Lucas, Millie-Gray Robertson, Wade Elmore and Archie Elmore.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Good News Baptist Church (29812 Good News Chapel Rd, Dozier, AL 36028). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
