He is survived by: his stepfather Earnest Leroy Phillips; his wife Virginia Connelly Phillips (Ginny); his sons, Gerald Clinton Phillips (Regina) and Eric Ayer (Laurie); and his brother Robert David Phillips (Bonnie). He is also survived by his siblings: 4 brothers and 2 sisters, 6 nieces, 7 nephews, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
