In the sacred silence of farewell, Melba is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. She was predeceased by: her husband Ellsworth Alford; her mother Flossie Lowe; and her sister Patsy Gates. She is survived by: her daughters, Tena Hovel (Jerry), Melissa Miller (Terry), Vicki Barnes (Larry), Cheryl Ivy and Velvet Alford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Indian Springs Baptist Church (4241 Lott Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613). A funeral service was held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at the Valhalla Memorial Gardens (8730 Sims Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613).
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made to Indian Springs Baptist Church.
