He was predeceased by : his parents, Burvill Posten and Annis Posten; and his sisters, Shirley, Edith, Willa May and Linda.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia Ann Posten; his grandchildren, Daryl Nibblett (Rachel), Patrick Posten, Michael Posten, Gary Posten Jr. (Felicia) and Geoff Posten (Miranda); and his great grandchildren, Brandon Posten, Broedy Posten (Stacy), Joseph Byars (Bethony), Emily Posten (Michael), Cason Williams, Jacob Belcher, Michael Gamble and Kyla Truett (Austin).

Visitation was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bell Sumiton Chapel (510 Main St, Sumiton, AL 35148). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
