He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry I. Byrd and Florence Cain Byrd; his wife Edna E. Averett Byrd; and his siblings, Wilma Stephens, Mildred Hines and Dewey Max Byrd.
He is survived by: his children, John Harold Byrd (Brenda), Ted Allen Byrd (Sandra) and Shirley Byrd Davis (Ronnie). He is also survived by four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren.
