He was predeceased by: his son Sean Whiting; his parents, Melvin Whiting and Ruth Thorpe; and his brothers, Mark Whiting, Marcel Whiting and David Whiting.
He is survived by: his children, Amy Turvey (Scott) of Ozark, AL, Jennifer Zuniga (John) of Mesa, AZ, Molly Carey (Benjamin) of Crescent, OK and Ryan Whiting (Shellie) of Jacksonville, FL; and his brother Brent Whiting (Galyn) of Spirit Lake, ID. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
