He was predeceased by: his parents, Roscoe Watson and Thelma Watson; his wife Sandra Cutts Watson; and his brothers, Roscoe Watson, Jr., John Glenn Watson, James Roswell Watson and Doug Watson (C. D.).

He is survived by: his son Steven Ted Watson; his nieces and nephews, Mark Watson, Susan Watson Pearson, Ann Watson Tate, Dennis Watson, Brent Watson, Larue Watson, Jerry Watson, Rickey Watson, Ginger Redd, Sonny Reagan, Kimberly Graham, Susan Stone, Deborah Hataway and Ronnie Pipkins; and his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Locke, Barbara Reagan (Henry) and Sue Watson.

“I served with Ted for many years while a member of HHC, 31st Support Battalion. He was soft spoken and always a gentleman, in or out of uniform. A man of strong convictions, he was tolerant and easy-going unless your actions/language were unacceptable and he wouldn't hesitate to intercede. He loved God & the military and served both faithfully and without hesitation. A natural leader, his quiet unassuming manner made him effective. Respected by his troops and was a loyal, dedicated soldier. RIP”
