He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Smith and Lois Smith; and his sister Jeanene Conway. He is survived by: his wife Rita Gibson Smith of Evergreen; his children, Jonathan Smith (Monica) of Evergreen, Jennifer Smith Wright (Artie) of Uriah and Pamela Smith Brown (Danny) of Evergreen; his grandchildren, Kaleb Wright (Megan Busch), Lakyn Brown (James Brooks), Logan Brown, Delilah Smith, Lambert Smith, Annabelle Smith and Benjiman Smith; and his great grandchild Hudson Brooks.
