He was predeceased by: the mother of his children Pearl Pinkerton; his wife Jo Ann Zellers; his siblings, Thomas Zellers and Joyce Zellers Dale; and his parents, John Thomas Zellers and Virgie Mae Griffin.
He is survived by: his daughters, Rhonda Ness (Wade) of Jasper, AL, Lisa Z. Brown of Evergreen and Wendy Powell of Evergreen; his sisters, Joy Snell of Greenville and Bee Till (Bud) of McWilliams, AL; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Phillippi, John William Phillippi, Ashley Williams, Cody Vivona, Kayla Ness Khol, John Austin Williams and Hope Ness Robinson. He is also survived by 6 great-granchildren numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
