He was predeceased by : his wife Margaret Mahaney-Smith; his former life partner Susan Smith; and his mother Betty Smith. He is survived by : his father Robert Smith; his son Jason Smith; his stepchildren, Amy Auldredge (Dustan), C. J. Errichetti and Dan Errichetti; his grandchildren, Graham, June Smith, Nora and Adeline Auldredge; and his siblings, David J. Smith, Sharon A. Kubeja, Matthew P. Smith and Christel M. Willis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A Mass was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Calendar St. Lawrence Catholic Church (370 S Section St, Fairhope, AL 36532).
