He was predeceased by: his parents, Obed Gandy and Olene Gandy; his stepmother Odessa; and his siblings, Frances Lidgard, Lamar Gandy, Larry Gandy, Phillip Gandy and David Gandy.

He is survived by: his wife Deborah Walker Gandy; his children, Barbara Johnson, Buck Pate, Bryan Gandy, Kevin Gandy (Valerie) and Jason Gandy; his siblings, Glenn Gandy (Mary) and Bernice Jerkins (Royce); his aunt Carolyn B. Garcia; his uncle William Gandy (Madeleine); his siblings-in-law, Carolyn Gandy, Rosemary Gandy, Diane Walker Kanne and Terry Lidgard; his cousin Reverend Ragan Boling; and his pet Rudy. He is also survived by 3 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
