It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Jerome Gates of Fairhope, Alabama, who passed away on October 28, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Robert leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Robert may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his brother Michael Gates. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Gates; his daughters, Cheryl Gates, Stephanie Smyth, Katherine Botts and Karin Gates; and his sisters, Karin Hutchins and Lisa Mann. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and seven nieces and nephews.
