He was predeceased by: his sister Sally Marie Jones. He is survived by: his wife Laura Stearns; his siblings, John T. Jones and Sandra Jones Dixon; his children, Thomas "Bo" (Sarah Lacey Jones) and Kelly Jones South (Taylor South); and his grandchildren, Charlotte and Samuel South.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to aid children with hearing loss to the Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education via Wise4AL.org, Alabama Hand and Voices, St. James Episcopal Church or American Legion # 199.
