She was predeceased by : her parents, Mozelle House Ruffin and Joe Pierce Ruffin of Millport, Alabama.; and her husband Harlan Irby Prater, III. She is survived by : her children, Joy Griswold (Stuart) of Northport, AL, Harlan Irby Prater, IV (Ann) of Birmingham, AL and Jane Yerger (Frank) of Oxford, MS; her siblings, June Ruffin Matsos (late Michael) of Birmingham, AL, Sylvia Ruffin Caldwell (William) of Charlotte, NC, Linda Ruffin McClinton (late Todd) of Pinson, AL, Jayne Ruffin Randolph (late Henry) of Birmingham, AL and Larry Joe Ruffin (Mary) of Milton, GA; her grandchildren, Lee Griswold Smith (Kyle) of Guin, AL, Lynne Griswold Turner (Brad) of Moss Point, MS, Catherine Ruffin Prater of Denver, CO, Florence Prater Curaca (Marcus) of Arlington, VA, Frank Montague Yerger, Jr. of Birmingham, AL, Sarah Jane Rivers Yerger of Oxford, MS, Harlan Prater Yerger of Oxford, MS, Lucy Brock Loose (Alex) of Charlotte, NC and Thompson Leland Brock (Emily) of Charlotte, NC; and her great grandchildren, Kylee Joy, Lily Jane, Claire Louise Smith, James Edward Turner (JT) and James Leland Brock. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Fayette Civic Center (534 Temple Ave N, Fayette, AL 35555).
