He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Thurman and Mary McGuire Shuster; and his siblings, Vivian Brewer, George Shuster, Delores Shuster, Emma Nell Shuster and Rita Shuster.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jo Cox Shuster; his children, John Lee Shuster Jr. (Susan), Rhonda Dennis (Kenny) and Allen Shuster (Tonya); his grandchildren, Mary Grace Thoni (Bobby), Ben Shuster (Sarah), Molly Shuster, Joseph Shuster (Samantha), Kenneth Paul Dennis, Amy Ownbey (David) and Joy McCowan (Alan); his great grandchildren, Cara Ownbey, Wesley Ownbey, Braxton Reynolds, Johanna Shuster, Layla Shuster and Quinn Shuster; and his sister Doris McCurdy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
