He was predeceased by: his former wife Mabel (Watson); his parents, Loe D. Dewrell and Clydie Pearl (Curington); and his siblings, Martell Dewrell, Wayland Dewrell and Jimmie Nell (Rudd).

He is survived by: his wife Shirley (Griffin); his children, Billy Dwayne Dewrell (Pam) and Deborah Madiedo; and his stepdaughters, Raylaine Henderson (Tim) and Darleen Dupuis (Tommy). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Monday, November 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.
