He was predeceased by: his parents, William Asbon and Lillian Pace Burns; his daughter Laurie Burns Franks; and his siblings, Aaron Burns (Bud), Charles Burns, J. L. Burns, Helen Hill and Arlee Graham.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Nash Burns; his grandchildren, Kenneth C. Franks, III (Kace) and Allison Jennings Franks; his sister Hazel Morgan; and his sister-in-law Ruth Nash Willoughby (Bill Willoughby). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
