She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Rakes and Lenna Rakes of Lakeland; and her husband William Sidney "Billy" Arrington III of Winter Haven, Florida.. She is survived by: her son William Sidney "Sid" Arrington IV (Teresa); her grandchildren, Amanda Michele Arrington of Sheffield and Caleb Anthony Arrington of Florence, Alabama; and her brother Maurice Rakes (Andrea) of Tampa, Florida..

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter (3240 Roberson Rd., Florence, AL 35630) or the Helen Keller Public Library (511 N. Main St., Tuscumbia, AL 35674), where her granddaughter serves as Assistant Director—two causes dear to Doris's heart.
