He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Murphy and Cora Murphy; and his siblings, Horace Murphy, Cecil Murphy, Nina Hart and Irene Irons.

He is survived by: his wife Frances Murphy; his children, Connie Putnam (Curtis), Matt Spalding and Heidi Irons (Kevin); his grandsons, Joshua Putnam (Emily), Logan Putnam (Christina) and Michael Irons; his great grandchildren, Brilee Putnam, Rylan Putnam, Wylder Putnam, Case Morrow and Rhett Putnam; and his siblings, Kenneth Murphy (Irene), Margaret Dailey and Linda Haggard (Wayne). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
