He is survived by: his wife Sandra Staggs Murphy; his children, Edwina Murphy and Dwayne Murphy (Brayde); his grandchildren, Desmond Murphy, Wil Murphy (Anna) and Nathan Murphy; his great grandchildren, Jayden Murphy and Reid Murphy; his siblings, Linda Hanson (Larry), Butch Murphy (Pam), Dan Murphy (Judy), Don Murphy (Janie) and Brenda Broadfoot; his aunt Faye; his close friend Pat Spires; and also Myles. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

Visitation was held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home of Florence (1950 Helton Drive, Florence, AL 35630). A funeral service was held on Monday, August 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Williams Funeral Home (1950 Helton Drive, Florence, AL 35630). A burial was held on Monday, August 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens (2601 Florence Blvd, Florence, AL 35630).
