He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leon and Caroline Watson Burt; and his brothers, Robert Frank Burt, James Frederick Burt, Charles Burt and Melvin Burt.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Cobb Burt; his children, Kevin Burt of Ellenwood, GA and Tresha Burt-Hughes (Kenneth) of Lexington, KY; his grandchildren, Marquita Williams (Derrick) of Madison, AL and Bailee Hughes of Lexington, KY; his great grandchildren, Ariel and Demarius; his great great grandchild Amari of Madison, AL.; his mother-in-law Romelia Hogan; his siblings, Shirley Suttle, Thomas Howard Burt, Glenn Hughes Burt, Ulysses Burt (Janet), Emmitt Burt and Michael Jarmon; and his brothers-in-law, Jessie Cobb (Diane), Gary Cobb, Robert Cobb (Regina), Darryl Cobb and Roderick Byrd (Vicky). He is also survived by numerous cousins, friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Thompson and Son Funeral Home (400 S Washington St, Tuscumbia, AL 35674). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church (1806 Popular St, Muscle Shoals, AL 35661-2229). A burial was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at the Jackson Cemetery.
