He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Pettus Newton; his children, Amy Newton Humphries (Mark) and Dana Newton Scott; his grandchildren, Austin Holt (Mallorie), Reed Humphries (Ripley), Grace Ann Grose (Matt) and Sydney Holt; his great grandchildren, Evelyn Holt, Rhodes Humphries and Colter Grose; his grandchildren, Grandchildren, Andrew Scott (Victoria) and Matthew Scott (Paige); and his brothers, Grant Newton (Valda), Troy Newton (Becky) and Paul Newton (Cheryl).
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his honor may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or the Cross Point Missions Fund.
