She was predeceased by: her parents, Jack Bird and Rebecca Bird; her husband Thomas Leon Garrett, Sr.; her daughter Laverna Garrett Monhan; and her brothers, Willie and Joe Bird.

She is survived by: her children, Brenda Waller and Thomas Garrett, Jr. (Pennie); her brother Ricky Bird (Cora); her grandchildren, Donnie (Katina), Kensley (Kayla), Molly (Tyler), Abby (Tyler) and Kailey; and her great grandchildren, Nick, Jared, Keana, Katrell and Kaziah.
