He was predeceased by: his parents, D. G. Salter and Jewel Salter; his brothers, James Salter and Benny Ray Salter; and his daughter Shelia Richie.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Ellen Goodlett Salter; his children, Mike Richie (Sherry), David Linkins, Sharon Hyde, Angie Richie, Gina Salter Duboise (Rick) and Lisa Linkins Cink (Stewart); and his grandchildren, Samantha Bolden, Scott Scoggin, Ben Richie, Erin Willingham, Michael Simpson, Janie Hall, Levi Hall, Jake Hall, Josh Hall, Aspen Linkins, Peter Linkins, Connor Cink and Reagan Cink. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Woodmont Baptist Church (2001 Darby Dr, Florence, AL 35630). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
