With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of David Dwight Downing of Foley, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 27, 2025 at the age of 83. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of David Dwight Downing to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Downing and Evelyn Treuthart Downing; and his son-in-law Chap Reed. He is survived by: his wife Tricia; his children, Kim Meyers (Marty) and Kristen Reed; his grandchildren, Kourtney, Chadwick (Brooke), CJ (Nicole), Stephen (Carissa) and Addison (Erin); and his great grandchildren, Conrad, Theodore, Vander, Peirson and Persephone.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 15th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church (13220 Main St, Elberta, AL 36530). A burial will be held on Friday, August 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery (34904 AL-225, Spanish Fort, AL 36577).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his name to one of the following: The Alzheimer's Assn (honoring his parents) or our church, St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Elberta, AL.
