He was predeceased by : his former life partner Edna Ruth Mitchell; his parents, William Mitchell and Fannie Lou Mitchell; and his brothers, Billy Joe Mitchell and Jimmy Mitchell.

He is survived by : his wife Dale Mitchell; his children, Dody Nettles (J. D.), Harry Neil Mitchell, Jr. and Amy Russell (Paul); his grandchildren, Laramie Copeland (Chris), Landon Matthews (Greyson), Tyler Nettles, Leif Nettles, Danielle Hollyfield (Michael), Tobey Mitchell (Daryll), Mitchell Patterson and Turner Patterson; his stepson Jeffery Gardner (Addie); his brother-in-law Michael Tindal (Amanda); his great grandchildren, Mary Turner Copeland, Harrison Matthews, Aiden Mitchell, Gantt Mitchell, Tyler Hollyfield, Brayden Hollyfield and Cameron Hollyfield; and his sister Memory Barrow. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and many, many, many close friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home (218 AL-106, Georgiana, AL 36033). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Mt Carmel Cemetery.
