He was predeceased by: his former wife Gail Alford Thompson; his son Brian Glenn Thompson; his daughter-in-law Cathy Hinson Thompson; his parents, Robert S. Thompson and Eunice Bolding Thompson (Ruth); his brother Robert S. Thompson, Jr.; his granddaughter-in-law Jennifer Thompson; and his great grandchild Lucas Jonathan Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Carol Thompson; his daughters, Debbie Leach (Bill) and Cheryl Lee; his grandchildren, William Leach (Kirsten), Katlyn Blong (Nate), Ian Lee Grimaldi, Alex Thompson, Stephen Leach and Serena Thompson; his niece Linda Alexander; his nephew Alan Thompson; his stepchildren, Ginger Cash (Joe), Cecil Arrington (CT), Hootie Arrington (Myra), Andrea Gulledge (Aaron) and Alison Ashmore (Hal); and his stepgrandchildren, Courtney (Jack), Paige McKenzie (Kenon), Lindsay Seagraves, Lauren Phillips (Jamon), Haley Traub (Ryan), Adam Arrington (Kellie), Sandy Arrington and Leanne Arrington Neece. He is also survived by great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home & Cemetery. A funeral service was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
