It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Christopher Pope Sr. of Gadsden, Alabama, who passed away on November 5, 2021, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Betsy Pope (Nelms); his parents, G. F. Pope and Veo Pope (Lovvorn) of Virginia; and his siblings, Edsel, Douglas Pope, Louise Awbrey (Pope) and Mildred Butts (Pope).

He is survived by: his sons, James C. Pope, Jr. (Catherine) and Daniel D. Pope; his brother Frank Pope; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Pope, Emily Pope and Jackson Pope; and his close friend Rhonda Teal.
