He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Elizabeth Penland (Ware) and R. L. Penland; and his sister Nancy Penland. He is survived by: his daughters, Hayley Lynne Penland, Lindsey Anne White and Cammie Caye McFarling; his wife Amanda Kay Penland (Brown); and his grandchildren, Hayley Penland, Jim Motes, Claire Cross, Ruby, Eli Motes, Lindsey, Sean, Connor White, Cammie, Jason, Jacob, Evan and Vivian McFarling.
