With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Kay Smelley Barkley of Gallion, Alabama, born in Northport, Alabama, who passed away on January 31, 2022 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Smelley and Jewel Smelley; and her son Jeremy Blake Palmer. She is survived by: her husband William V. Barkley, Jr.; her daughters, Cortney Palmer Patton (Drew), Rebecca Barkley Purdy and Brenna Barkley Askew (Burke); her sister Kathryn Smelley Styres; her grandchildren, Chase Purdy and Blakely Palmer; her nieces, Pam Styres Buell (Randy) and Cynthia Styres Blackhall (Jim); and her great-nephew Will Bishop.
